EMDR & Brainspotting Therapy for trauma in Texas and Mississippi

Do you feel that you need something different than traditional talk therapy?

If you’ve experienced traditional talk therapy in the past but you still feel “stuck,” a new approach may be more effective to help relieve you of life’s challenges.

Studies have shown that trauma can become stored in the body and affects the way our brains work. Both, Brainspotting and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) are mind-body modalities that can help you heal from the inside out and on a much deeper level.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life challenges such as, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and panic disorders. With EMDR, we utilize eye movements to reprocess disturbing memories and images. After completion of the 8 phases, most people report a significant difference in their functioning related to the area of focus.

Brainspotting is a less structured approach that utilizes your visual field to locate “spots” or areas in your brain that activate painful emotions and reactions. With use of a pointer, a tool to help you focus on the “spot,” you can begin to heal unprocessed experiences that feel difficult to move past.

Brainspotting is also helpful for improving mental clarity, resolving trauma, and dislodging negative belief patterns.

Life doesn’t have to feel this way.

Trauma is any disturbing experiences that have significantly impacted your ability to function. Interestingly, time is of no relevance when it comes to trauma. An adult with unprocessed trauma from age 2 can still feel the same intense emotional pain as a person who experienced trauma yesterday. Although processing through trauma can feel scary and challenging, the good news is that it can create a pathway towards healing and emotional freedom.
